Brief CV Pauline Rose RN PhD

I have been a nurse for 54 years, 36 of those years in cancer care in Queensland in radiation oncology. I have recently ‘retired’ from work and  travelling each day from the Gold Coast to Brisbane, but still maintain projects that allow me to use my knowledge and expertise in this field.

I am proud of the recognition that radiation oncology nursing is now receiving from the peak radiation oncology College in Australia and New Zealand (RANZCR), as we have finally been recognized as integral components in the multidisciplinary team in the care of patients undergoing radiation therapy for cancer. The Tripartite has been renamed the Radiation Alliance to reflect the inclusion if radiation oncology nurses. On behalf of CNSA, myself and two colleagues are participating in the review of the Radiation Oncology Practice Standards (ROPS), and integrating nursings’ views throughout the ROPS as part of the patient focus.

I am also currently supporting four Papua New Guinean nurses in Port Moresby in radiation oncology education as their government embarks on opening an Oncology Centre incorporating two linear accelerators. Exciting times!
